January 3rd I returned to doing spot work on the radio after an 11 year absence. It was like riding a bicycle again once I placed air within a flat tire. To be able to enjoy events with hockey, baseball, basketball, football, golf, and charitable events was indeed a highlight! Asking Rick Carlisle a question during the NBA Finals while the world was watching was something I did not anticipate. That was real fun!
Another sellout crowd at the AAC, the 401st consecutive in regular season play which included players from Penn State and Houston.
Not sure what frustrated me more. Seeing the Mavericks fall to 0-3 in the manner that they did or seeing Rick Nash do what he always does when he visits Big D. Score goals and create havoc for us.
Part of my interest lied in the fact there was a player for the Longhorns named David Ash. Back in my high school days I went to school with a David Ash when living in the OC. In fact, years removed from that USC-Texas game a few of my classmates were a future USC alum named Rex Moore, Darren Medley (Son of Righteous Brother Bill Medley), and Jim Fregosi Jr. Thus I wondered if there was any relation.
This day in 1975 I sat in front of my television set watching the Vikings and Cowboys play one another. One week removed from a snowball throwing incident with Chuck Foreman in a game played at snowy Buffalo, I remember a referee getting popped with a whiskey bottle as this game wound down.
