    Thank You Pudge!

    Timing is everything in baseball and I now give kudos to the Texas Rangers as they prepare for a busy week of home games with the dreaded A.L. East. Tonight the New York Yankees will be in town for a three game set. An off day and then three with the Tampa Bay Rays. I am reminded of a memorable 2010 playoff run in the ALDS and ALCS when I got to watch the fun up close and personal.

    Fair Enough!

    Another birthday is going to be honored and noticed today and each day for the next six months. Much like the unveiling Dallas was privy to back on March 2nd for the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge the same must be said for what was truly a progressive movement moment in the great Northwest fifty years ago today.

    Hotter and Older Than Betty!

    I remember the way Yankee players bemoaned how hard it was to hit a blast to straightaway center. Red Sox players said the same about Death Valley in the Bronx. Try imagining the numbers Ted Williams and Joe DiMaggio would have had if they played for the other team! The Yankees got hot as 1974 wound down. Baltimore was a bit better and we fell two games short of a playoff. The Orioles I recall threw 5 straight shutouts that September. Boston faded much like 1978.
