At 11:01pm Wednesday night there will be a bunch of NBA players who will test the waters of free agency. The Big 3 being LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh. Not until July 8th will trades be able to go down. Rest assured the squawk radio folk will blather on needlessly about 'sources, insiders, and experts' to provide needless fodder about who goes where.
No matinee stuff until February 2011. The champion Blackhawks (minus a few names courtesy of a trade with Nashville) will make the first of two visits in February and again on St. Patrick's Day followed by the Flyers two days later. Stanley Cup week indeed. I look forward to it.
Life has a way of providing your checks and balances even if you do not. There comes a time you just have to turn it off and relax, regroup, reenergize. Now is my time. All necessary precautions will now be taken to amend what needs mending. I hate not being at my best and enough about that.
Nowhere in the book of libational living do you have to completely obliterate your senses that you awaken in a strangers bed, a jail cell, or perhaps a floor by a gutter at a late hour with no recollection how you got there. It's happened more times than I care to know. A different kind of walk of shame.
