    A Tampa Connection!

    The irony was that a friend of mine happened to be from Tampa, just like one of our new guys. Brad Richards became the first DALLAS Star to have a five assist night! Not bad for a first game, eh? The jumbotron made mention that Mike Modano had a five point game back in 2002, albeit with a goal and four assists.

    RIP Myron Cope 1929-2009

    It was 1970 when a quarterback and an announcer had their debuts on the same day. Terry Bradshaw and Myron Cope each began doing their thing on September 20th of 1970. Terry Bradshaw had great success going into 1983. Myron Cope proceeded to become the voice of the Pittsburgh Steelers until 2004. 35 years with one team is a kind of servitude we will never see again in our lifetime. Sadly Myron Cope passed away this day at 79.

    From Shootout to Buyout!

    At issue here was securing the services of a scoring machine. The Stars did exactly that with Brad Richards. For added measure they also acquired goalie Jovan Holmquist to back up and compete alongside Marty Turco. In return the Stars traded Jussi Jokinen, Jeff Halpern, Mike Smith and a 4th round draft pick.
