This time of year, the start of the Augusts Dog Days commences what should be six exciting races that will carry us to October and the play-offs. In between exhibition football and the X Games and 'Shark Week', fans will keep an eye tuned toward the radio, the television, the computer, the Iphone, for constant baseball updates.
This rumor has been floating around all day. The Rangers apparently interested in shopping Scott Feldman and Rich Harden for a Ted Lilly! Big lead or not, I smell a red flag here. Sometimes you can do too much and overplay your hand in the face of a pennant. Not one year ago you had a hoss named Kevin Millwood who fulfilled all incentives to deserve a return to Texas. That didn't happen as he was dealt to Baltimore for Chris Ray. Ray already gone for Bengie.
The transition is slow. A banner attached to a car here and there. The road sign on the I-30. Seeing guys wear their #9 or #82 in honor of Tony Romo and Jason Witten. Talk radio starts going the route of conjecture on the upcoming season. When training camp starts, every news conference with Wade Phillips is treated like Moses on the mountain about to discuss the Ten Commandments. Then the smack talk starts at work around the cooler and everyone seems to be irritable.
I remind Ranger fans that sometimes collapses sometimes will and do happen. Ask the Phillies of 1964. The Cubs of 1969. The Red Sox of 1978. The Angels of 1995. The Mets of 2008 and 2009.
Greg and Sheri came along for the fun. Talk about two talented characters! It is our goal to get the word out for a core group of 15-20 singers who will eat, drink, spend some money, and have some fun. I'm good for one day a week at this point in my life. All for fun and in inexpensive night out among friends.
