    The White Sox and Cubs are both in the playoffs for the first time in 102 years simultaneously. You know what? Now I want to see all Chicago series! That would be a hoot! Oh, to be a bartender in downtown Chitown.

    A Texan Sets the Standard.

    8 am comes way too early on football home games...This day in 1973, Nolan Ryan shatters a record set by Sandy Koufax ten years earlier in a home game with the Minnesota Twins. Richie Reese gets K'd swinging. It was strikeout number 383 for the year! Proving that the 329 K's in 1972 were no fluke, the pride of Refugio and Alvin, Texas one upped himself 35 years ago. Little did we know he would continue to pitch for another twenty years...

    Fair Enough?

    Happy Friday! The Texas State Fair officially opens today and shall run through October 19th. In light of all this bailout talk I wonder if we will see a repeat of Black Monday, which also fell on 10/19/87.
