Alas, it wasn't meant to be. For the 16,600 fans in Arlington, more than half left when the deficit hit 11. Homer and I started to talk about how the Cowboys will do, why the Rangers tease us and make things close before imploding late, why fans are so fair weathered in Texas (my theory is due to all the transplants from elsewhere. Texas, California, Oregon, Washington I noticed this).
When I heard the first reports I thought back to that early Thursday morning 7/29/81 when Diana and Charles married to an audience of 1 billion people. Fresh from turning 20 on July 1st, I thought, 'What a beautiful woman! Why would she marry a guy that much older?'
Took a bunch of pics. I'm mad at myself this morning because as I sat down, Jerry Jones and son Stephen were walking around, making small talk. I'm a foot away from a photo op, and my camera died! No juice. DAMN! Another day.
Scott Feldman hands down has been the ace of the Texas Rangers in 2009. With an 11 strikeout performance, a 1st for a Ranger since 1999, Feldman improves his record to 13-4. 9-1 on the road with an ERA of 3.15! That to me is amazing. I hope he gets a chance at 20 wins. What a season, and what a gritty thrower...
The 10-12 times I went to Texas Stadium it cost plenty to park, the walk to the Stadium, and the drive out. Today and for at least the next two years, parking for me is free and the walk to and from the palace is 4 minutes. I could learn to like that. I could also learn to like working close to home. That's next on the agenda...
