    Tirades, Birthdays, and Dwellar Plays

    I probably would have said something off to the side and maybe scripted a little better, but the overall gist of his message hit home for every parent who wants to make sure their childs best interests are being met.     As Good As Preaching!

    Having run to the store to by a birthday card, I get a call from Barbara informing me that she was already in her seat. I was just about to reach her seat when my ticket guy Chad passes me by. I say a quick hello. Next thing I know I am given a pair of tickets to sit closer to the game. What would have been right field foul line seats became RIGHT NEXT TO THE ANGELS DUGOUT! There's some irony here...

    Forever (Michael) Young

    Michael Young now sits at 193 hits for the season. Reaching 200 for the fifth year in a row will be a thrill to watch. 8 homers and 85 ribbies. If he can do the impossible and reach 100 RBI, that would make for a hell of a stat: Ballplayers with over 100 RBI and ten homers or fewer. You'd have to go back to dead ball era days to find a name to match that criteria. Thurman Munson in 1975 came close...

    1973's Battle...

    This day in 1973, also a Thursday, Billie Jean King put away Bobby Riggs in a 'battle of the sexes' at the Houston Astrodome in two straight sets. At the time all the pomp and circumstance attempted to make for an even playing field between the genders. Mind you, Bobby was 55 and Miss King was 30. Howard Cosell and Frank Gifford called the play by play and it was a fun time for all...
