    Get My Popcorn Ready!

Weather might be at issue this Sunday when the Cowboys and Texans kick off at noon. Local forecast calls for heavy rain and maybe some thunderboom action. And that's BEFORE Terrell Owens opens up his mouth and erases all doubt. If I wanted to see a sideshow I'd find a circus or reach for a P T Barnum novel. Note to Jerry Jones: P T Barnum once said 'There's a sucker born every minute.' You proved that last March 18th. This will be a game the Cowboys somehow find a way to win before the Giants knock them on their keister in a Monday Night affair.

    R.I.P. Cory Lidle (1972-2006)

What I find so ironic about Cory Lidle's passing is that Lou Piniella was in the Fox booth calling the Oakland game. I wonder if it occurred to him just how close he was to flying with Thurman Munson on that day 28 years ago. Lou and Bobby Murcer each had a standing invite one day prior in Chicago. Both politely declined...

    Frank and Nat.

If there is a word to best describe this behemoth by J Tamborelli, it is 'complex'. The waters run deep, yet so do the vacillations and the self absorptions. Definitely not a Kitty Kelly turn and burn, but a story that is quite informative. Back in a day when Hollywood was beyond scruples, Sinatra paints a picture that isn't always rosy. If you have patience here's a book that can dispel some facts from truth, including Frank's personal ties and recollections to family and friendships. Happy Reading!

    Perfection Reviewed 50 Years Later.

The only perfect game thrown in World Series history! You've probably seen the black and whites of Yogi hugging Don as they were mobbed off the Yankee Stadium field. Mantle by the way was a few weeks away from winning the Triple Crown with 52 Homers, 130 ribbies and a batting average of .356. Amazing.

    Red River Revival.

The story of the day was the 101st revival of the Red River Shootout at the Cotton Bowl here in Big D. Let me give credit where credit is due. The Longhorn defense found ways to stunt and stuff Adrian P while coming up with the big play in a 28-10 laugher over Oklahoma. The Sooners kept getting in trouble with needless penalties where Texas kept their composure. Hook Em indeed. Lost in that story was the shocker the Razorbacks of Arkansas pulled at Auburn 27-10. Can it be said that Houston pulled a Nutt the size of a grapefruit out of his sack? I saw that game and still can't believe how badly the Tigers played.
