    Houston: She Had a Problem.

    http://mrwill316.podomatic.com/entry/2012-02-12T21_50_48-08_00 (Episode 9)

    Hello and Happy Sunday everyone.

Once again a lifestyle lesson has reared it's ugly head in the name of someone's passing. A woman with royalty in her blood and world appeal in her voice and modulation has sadly been snuffed out by a life of addiction and illness. A very lonely way to live when you don't have a circle of friends who support you in good times and bad. Examples of this include John Belushi, Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley, Jim Morrison to name a few.

Whitney Houston exploded onto the music scene in 1985. Her look, her voice, her style, her demeanor was absolutely breath-taking. The fact she was a Jersey girl at one point had my attention. That girl could sing! When 'The Bodyguard' movie came to be in 1992 I knew a certain song that would rule the karaoke circuit for the rest of our lives.

Sadly, like others before her, something-maybe someone-was troubling Whitney. As some people are wont to do they opt for an escape, a diversion, a release, a timeout. They go the route of a substance legal or illegal. How one reacts to that first instance of euphoric transformation will tell you who you will read about down the road.

You see, even with almost 14 and a half years of sobriety from drugs and alcohol, I can never forget. The term you hear is 'progressive'. This is to say 'Yeah, that first little bit was okay so let's up the dosage and I'll feel okay.' Sadly for the individual with the addictive personality or the gene that says 'Yup! Addicted! More! Won't Stop!' there is a problem...

You cannot fill an empty hole. Hence the phrase '1 is too many and 1000 is not enough.' Talk about a truer definition of insanity.

People of great talent and people of lesser means are equally at harm with this. To the 'normie' who can do one of something and just walk away and not go back, God Bless. People like myself and Whitney wish we could be like you. Hence we are not.

For every individual the burning issues that ignite the trigger shall differ. It isn't for me to say what one should do with their life. Further, even with clean time a person is not cured! That's a tough fact to swallow for most. The numbers for people who relapse and go back out to never return is a sad one.

With this latest passing of a Vocal Diva it is my hope that people begin to wake up and see exactly what you get if you surround yourself with 'Yes' people opposed to good people. There are no simple answers to what works if you are the sufferer. I prefer solitude as a loner. Maybe you prefer having around you always. Will those people you think are your friends have your best interests at heart? I wonder.

Tonight the 54th annual Grammy Awards will happen. There will be a tribute moment for Miss Whitney. A six time winner who has earned it. Yet, was she happy? What made her keep going back to a life of pain and trouble and erratic behavior?

Many in the know knew that Whitney Houston had problems. Maybe she was her own worst enemy. And maybe, nobody did anything to try to steer her in the right direction. For every death that hits the newsstands and TMZ with such lather and fluff, I prefer to honor the brothers and sisters in the ongoing daily battle for sobriety and clarity. Our fight is never easy. 24 hours a day. If you want it...you can have it.

Deepest condolences to the immediate family of Whitney Houston. Under the bright lights-electric! It's what happens offstage we'll never know about...

Nice double overtime win for the Mavericks.

    Make it a great day!

Over and out in Big D.

    Mr. Will
