    One Historical Night Of Dramatics!

    Happy Thursday Everyone!

Last night we were privy to some incredibly exciting, dramatic, and heart wrenching action on the diamonds. Had this have taken place head to head with football, the impact would have been lessened. The fact you had national audiences affected by playoff scenarios from Boston all the way to Tampa Bay made for a late night for many on the East Coast.

Add to this dynamic a rain delay, three blown leads in four games, one dramatic loss in Baltimore. The Orioles knocking Jonathon Papelbon and the Red Sox out of the wild card chase with 2 runs in the 9th one strike away from a loss! Buck Showalter's team went 5-2 against the Boston in a ten game stretch! Hard to fathom the Red Sox had a 9 game lead back on September 1st.

Not three minutes after that game ended, the Tampa Rays, at one point down 7-0 to the Yankees, had a dramatic walk-off win by Evan Longoria to defeat the Yankees in 11 8-7 as the Rays bench and city exulted in celebration. Just like that the Rays are coming to Arlington in a rematch of 2010, minus Cliff Lee, with a wave of momentum behind them. A team of destiny? Maybe...

Go back to 1953 for the last time the Yankees blew a 7-0 lead after 7 innings. Ouch! New York will host the Tigers of Detroit. I'm not too excited about the though of facing Justin Verlander twice. Not in a 5 game series. Heck no! CC Sabathia, are you ready?

I can't believe the talk has begun about firing Terry Francona! 2 titles in 4 years! Prior to his arrival zero for 86 years! Really? How knee-jerk reactionary. You'd think Boston was as fair-weathered as Cowboys fans. If Tito leaves it is not on him, this 2011 collapse. No sir, refer to the millionaire players...

Glued to my television I was. If I didn't see it with my own eyes I would have thought I relapsed. The Beantown heartbreak was bad enough. Then to see the Braves blow a 9th inning lead only to lose in 13? Ouch. Then to say that the Braves were birthed in Boston? Double ouch? How about I start a new Babe Ruth curse? The record of losses for Boston/Atlanta in September? 19-18! YEOW!!!!

The game winning hit by Francisco Cabrera in 1992 for the Braves was dramatic. Bobby Thomson in 1951-dramatic! Chris Chambliss in 1976 equally dramatic! Ditto Aaron Boone in 2003. What I witnessed last night in the space of three minutes? Beyond epic! Bring on the post season! Now I am ready...

North Texas to flirt with 100 degrees today for the 71st time! Can you believe it? Yes, I guess I can...

    Make it a great day!

Over and out in Big D.

    Mr. Will
