Tigers Warning.
Hello and Happy Thursday everyone!
Can't tell you how great is was to awaken to an open window and a temperature in the upper 60s. In a way it made perfect sense after we set the record for most triple digit days in one season. 2011 is now the new 2011. With that out of the way I think most people are now able to focus on the fall and football.
A report that is starting to gain some steam is that Tony Romo was so despondent in the locker room after Sunday Night's loss that teammates had to come to Tony and remind him that, as the team leader, he must change his demeanor in a hurry! To the point that the defensemen and offensive linemen were trading barbs at one another.
Of course it's 'reports' like these that we like to run with and check the facts. Granted that was one tough defeat to have to handle. Yes, a pattern has emerged with Tony Romo (your Dallas Cowboy gunslinger). Have a lead and get a little too maverick in the approach. It will get him in trouble at times when you least want it to.
I spoke with John Niland about this on Monday. I asked,' Is there any chance that this Sunday in San Francisco be a trap game with the Redskins 8 days thereafter?' John said he felt the Cowboys could be in trouble if special teams-Ted Ginn Jr.-has a repeat performance as they did in Week 1. If weather indeed is a factor by the Bay, perhaps a long day for the Silver and Blue. To think that 15 years ago THIS was the best rivalry in the NFC...
College football shall kick off this night in Misissippi state as the Tigers of LSU shall make a trip there. Call me crazy but even though the 'Geaux Tigers' brigade travels incredibly well I expect the boys from MSU to put a scare into LSU before the boys in Purple find a way to pull away albeit barely. Same applies for that other team traveling to Clemson on Saturday but I think Clemson can win that game based on ball control.
I see where Josh Hamilton hitting a grand slam paid some huge dividends for a flooring company. To the tune of half a million dollars. Free flooring for some lucky folks for having perfect timing with their tile requests. Way cool. Josh Hamilton: I see commercials in your immediate future! Yes I do!
Is it starting to feel like 1978 in Beantown? Is there a collapse in the making? The Rays of Tampa Bay are making a run at the wild card. What was a 9 game lead is now whittled down to 3. From 'Boston Massacre' to 'Tampa Takeover'? I can see and imagine the headlines now if the Red Sox miss out on the Wild Card spot.
Detroit Tigers about to clinch the A.L. Central and Justin Verlander will be your C y Young winner in the Junior Circuit. Has it occurred to anyone that we could in theory see a matchup with Detroit and the Diamondbacks of Arizona led by 1984 World Series MVP Kirk Gibson? Might make for great ratings but still a great story/angle.
My travels shall take me to Plano later this day after River duties have been handled. Looking forward to it on behalf of a great cause! Maybe I'll see you there.
Make it a great day!
Over and out in Big D.
Mr. Will
