    A Month That Truly Sizzled.

Hello and Happy Thursday my friends.

Hard to believe but 2011 is now half way completed. The last six months have been a complete blur. For the most part the majority of the events that now take place in my mind have been quite memorable. Much like the weather in North Texas, you best believe that the 2011, like the month of June has sizzled.

With the guaranteed assuredness of another day that will reach triple digits, June 2011 will go down as the third warmest month on record behind 1953 and 1980. Incredibly we did NOT have a day where the mercury didn't pass 90, and usually 100 for the most part.

I know that 1998, 2000, 2006, and 2008 also take some solace in giving 1980 a run for it's money. Otherwise a standard was set 7/4/80 when the mercury in Dallas topped out at 113. That isn't even including the addition of the heat index!

With all the pomp and circumstance that surrounded the run the Dallas Mavericks had, I never gave the weather a second thought, except that fateful day May 24th when a hailstorm of all hailstorms struck North Texas and did some serious damage to a plethora of vehicles.

On another matter, Gavin Maloof has made the trek to the River during the owners meetings here in Dallas. Tonight at 11 pm locally the CBA agreement officially ends and a second sport will go into lockout mode.

There are many who believe we'll see football before we see an NBA game again. I'm not holding my breath either way. 1994 was also the same calendar days as 2011 and now we see a role reversal with two sports at risk. Pick your poison. This may take a while, even while the NFL and NFLPA keep talks alive in Minnesota through Friday.

This day 1971 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory premiered in theatres. Loved the movie and loved Gene Wilder!

I hope 2011 has been good to you this far. I'm ready for July and the second half.

Over and out in Big D.

    Mr. Will.
