    Time Standing Seemingly Still

Hello and Happy Friday to you.

Still shaking my head at just how hot the month of June was here in North Texas. July is technically the hottest month on average so let's see what kind of mercurial damage the Lone Star state can create. If it can go all month above 100 and not dip below 80, I'll be ready to exclaim, '1980, you're going down!'

The same can be said about the current state of the NBA. The lockout now but a few hours in, the players and owners not exactly as far apart as the NFL is. Yet if you read the language being used by both sides, I can assure you and forewarn you that you need not worry about planning that holiday travel around the sports schedule. There will be no NBA in 2011-2012. There, I am on record to state this.

This also means there will be a delay as to when Dallas Maverick fans get to enjoy watching the banner get hoisted on their subsequent opening night, whenever that shall be.

As we begin the second half of 2011, the lull of the next few days shall be evident as we hopefully all take the time to enjoy three days off with family and friends and remember to keep that independent spirit about ourselves and our nation in focus. By all means be sure to partake in some good food and some great fireworks as well.

Locally the night of the 3rd will be a busy place if you choose to be anywhere near Addison for Kaboomtown or out near Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie. Both of those locales really light it up. The night of the 4th be sure to drive out to Rangers Ballpark for a great post-game show. The same applies in downtown Dallas along the Trinity River.

One thing I will not be doing is watching that damned food fest farce from Coney Island. Like I need an explanation about a 'reversal of fortune' with commentators. No thanks!

In the last month the exercise regimen I have been doing is beginning to show some nice results and leading to some nice changes in my appearance and overall energy and strength. More on that later. For the first time since 2007, Mr. Will is getting groove back. For that I am grateful.

River duties this day before focusing on a three day jaunt of fun. After 6 weeks apart, a friendly reunion in studio this night with your 'DFW SportsAngel' and '1 Handsome Devil.' It happens weeknights on www.kvceradio.com so make it a point to listen if you can.

Make it a great Friday and July everyone!

Over and out in Big D.

    Mr. Will
