    So THAT'S Country? DAMN!!!!!

    Hello and Happy Saturday everybody.

Admittedly I am in a bit of a grumpy mood. I actually noticed this as I awoke to a fourth straight day of clouds and drizzle in North Texas. My immediate thought was, 'How in the hell did I survive, much less get sober, in Seattle?' This is how it looks for seven to eight months out the year. Otherwise 'The Emerald City' is exactly that the rest of the time...

A cold snap now heading our way. Time to fire up the firewood. Bring your wood, your friends, and your wooden friends. A wonderful combination to be sire as we near winter. So much on the docket to cover and so little time.

Last night was my first visit to a place in Addison called 'Denim and Diamonds'. It used to be Cape Buffalo prior yet I never went.

The honorable Rachel Dixon was having a birthday party. Of course I always welcome a chance to mingle, network, interact, and do what I do best....schmooze and snap a camera!

I have a co-worker, William Lunsford, who is a HUGE fan of country!

Seemingly every day he keeps me in the loop about what's hot and what's not with the latest country superstars. I know names like Kenny Chesney, Trace Adkins, Blake Shelton, and Alan Jackson. As for songs by name, very few.

Admittedly I'm more old school to stuff like Ronnie Milsap and Alabama. The Oak Ridge Boys I once met and listened to religiously back in the day. I can recall one afternoon in the Northwest soaking up the sounds of Diamond Rio and Willie Nelson. That was then...

Then to see a dance floor loaded with well dressed gals and guys two stepping, boot scooting, and tush-pushing got to be a little intimidating. Then the moment of truth...The women...by the hundreds...in cowboy hats, cowboy boots, and jeans that somehow winked at you when they walked by. I was transfixed!

The birthday party continued and suffice to say Rachel Dixon and friends were having a grand old time. I was keeping my eyes on the dance floor. I noticed something rather telling. The guys and gals with the most dance knowledge were at ease, secure, confident, and having a blast! Not an ounce of insecurity or being territorial with their dates. It also looked like there was alot of waltzing and boot shuffling going on. Sister Barbara would have been on cloud nine at this place.

For 2 and a half hours I soaked it all in while doing camera chores for the group. An environment I am not used to, but was made to feel comfortable by so many. For that I am grateful. I believe I will take William up on his offer to get a dance lesson, or three. That was a wonderful sight to behold for this young man!

Tonight 'Will The Bartender' goes into service mode on behalf of www.theproartistsgroup.com from 8-12p in Dallas. This time of year I enjoy getting to go back of hobbies of old which I used to enjoy as a younger man when I didn't know I was a raging drunk. 25 dollars OR two unwrapped gifts will get you into this party. Oh yes, did I mention a cigar roller? Happy Cuban I be!

Tomorrow will include a road trip to Garland on behalf of a young man battling cancer. More on that tomorrow. Be safe and have a wonderful weekend!

Over and out in Big D.

    Mr. Will
