Because of a Headache and a Model Birth...

Happy Monday everybody! Win some, lose some...

Marilyn Monroe was born this day in 1926. Sadly she left us way too soon 8/5/62 at 36. What could have been had she aged like Mae West? Just a thought...

Yesterday in the Texas heat, Franky Francisco proved he was human after all. The Rangers trailed by a 4-0 count until Jarrod Saltalamacchia spanked a 2 run double to force a 4-all tie. After 17 plus scoreless innings Franky hung a fastball over the plate that Adam Kennedy knocked out of the park. Adam also went deep off Kevin Millwood in the 1st inning. Oakland salvaged the final game of the series.

The loss denied Texas a chance at a 21 win month. 20-9 was the final tally. This has happened one other time. That was September 1978. Just like Oakland's last win in Arlington on the last day of the month, Dallas Braden was a tough competitior and Ryan Sweeney robbed Ian Kinsler of another solo blast. Unreal!

As May ends the Rangers enjoy a 4.5 game lead on the Angels. Today is a day off before Texas embarks on a six stretch in New York then Boston. My guess is that a 3-3 roadtrip will be more than acceptable. Vicente Padilla will try to start a new win streak for the good guys. 27 days the Rangers have remained in first place. Lots of positives. Oh by the way, I saw Willie Moscoso throw in Frisco. If injuries become an issue for the staff, this young man will pay some positive dividends.

This day in 1925 Lou Gehrig played his first game as a Yank, courtesy of a headache by Wally Pipp. 2,130 games later...

    Time for a walk!

Over and out in Big D
