    Heaven for an Iron Horse!

Happy Tuesday and Happy birthday Kevin Kiley!

This day in 1941 Lou Gehrig died after a three year battle with ALS, now known as Lou Gehrig's disease. A 1942 movie, 'Pride of the Yankees' with Gary Cooper and Theresa Wright was a touching tribute.

Injuries are a part of any sport. The Rangers are now looking at the possibility of not having Josh Hamilton for an extended period of time. At issue is whether or not surgery will be needed for a torn abdominal muscle. If Josh opts for the surgery, we may not see the main cog of the 2008 lineup until September. Having Andruw Jones, Marlon Byrd, Nelson Cruz, David Murphy, and Brandon Boggs available for callup makes for some good platoon situations. May was a memorable month for the Rangers with 20 wins. June might be memorable for the number of tests placed before Ron Washington, Mike Maddux, and Andy Hawkins.

Vicente Padilla was ineffective in his first start since coming off the disabled list. After a Nelson Cruz blast, the Yankees would employ a seven run 4th inning to break the game wide open as New York rolled 12-3. At issue post game were two pitches thrown by Vicente that beaned Mark Teixeira, touching off a war of words and retaliation from A J Burnett going after Elvis Andrus and Nelson Cruz.

The Yankees and Rangers have been going back and forth for the best record in the American League. For this night. the honor returns to New York. Tomorrow is another day. Scott Feldman has been money since becoming a starter. Scotty is a good bet to right the ship on this important road trip.

An absolutely mild gorgeous day for a walk, and off I go!

Over and out in Big D
