    How Sweep It Is!

Happy Birthday JFK! If alive you'd be 92 years young this day...

With Matt Harrison out, young Tommy Hunter was called up for his 1st game in Arlington. He would deliver! Keeping Texas in the game for over five innings, Andruw Jones would deliver a key blast off the foul pole to break a 3-all tie. Nelson Cruz went deep for added measure immediately with his back-to-back jack. Travis Buck hit a monster blast in the 2nd inning to knot things all up.

Eddie Guardado and CJ Wilson provided good relief to uphold a 6-3 victory in a game that was played at a brisk pace. Immediately after the game ended, Tommy Hunter was sent back down to make room for Guillermo Moscoso. I saw Moscoso pitch at Frisco. This kid has heat! I wish him well.

With a fireworks show to follow game 2 of the twinbill, the nightcap started exactly 20 minutes after the first game ended. Just enough time to grab a sandwich and some sunflower seeds...

Game 2 the stage was set when the Rangers put up a 4 spot for Scott Feldman. Josh Hamilton had a 2 run double to lead the charge. Taylor Teagarden would contribute a 2 run single and would score the fifth run later in the game. The Rangers rolled to a 5-3 victory. For the first time in a long while Texas moved to ten games over .500! A rare doubleheader sweep in Arlington and good momentum leading into the rest of the weekend.

Of concern for Texas was the evening Chris Davis had. six strikeouts in both games has me thinking that he may get a rest against two more lefties or maybe even get sent down. He did get a standing ovation when he flied to center in his last at bat. He looked terrible. I also questioned playing Josh Hamilton. He made a great running catch in the middle innings but appeared to be in alot of pain in his next at bat. I am worried Josh will see more DL than DH time in 2009.

Six strong innings for Scott Feldman, who got his first win in Arlington since May 9th 2008. This young man has been money with each start, proving his worth to a ballclub that wanted him in the bullpen to start the season.

Brandon McCarthy will try to get to five wins when he throws tomorrow night against the A's. Turning out to be a nice homestand. Time for bed. I love when doubleheaders take less than six hours!

    Time for a walk!

Over and out in Big D
