    A National Disaster...

Happy Birthday Mike Gastineau, Jim Thorpe! The pride of Oklahoma was voted 'Greatest Athlete of the first half of the 20th Century.' Olympics, Baseball, Football, Track, just amazing...

The rubber game for the Rangers with the Yankees was anything but amazing. Derek Holland was the mound starter and things went off with a bang for the Bombers. Throwing mostly fastballs and an occasional changeup, Mark Teixeira decided to take a change deep for a 2 run homer after Derek Jeter led off with a single. Hidecki Matsui went yard on Holland in the sixth to increase the lead to 3-0. Poor defense and a miscue led to an 8-0 shutout for the Yankees and A.J. Burnett before Ian Kinsler connected for a 2 run shot in the 7th. Alas, the Yanks take the series 9-2.

The series itself drew some strong numbers. Over 38,000 were in attendance for the nationally televised game. 120,720 came for the series. The best numbers since Opening Day weekend with the Red Sox 4/6th thru 8th 2007. This was the first series the Rangers lost since the Royals were here April 17th. Only once sine 1997 have the Rangers taken a series in Arlington. That was in May of 2004 when A-Rod returned to Texas.

Off day for the Rangers and some looming concerns. Matt Harrison will miss his next start due to arm inflammation. Josh Hamilton has a groin strain that will also sideline him indefinitely. Vicente Padilla about to come off the DL. We hope he is still in the same form he was prior to injury. A rough stretch of schedule starts after this weekends series with the Oakland Athletics. Four starting lefties will be thrown at the Rangers. Tomorrow is a twinbill doubleheader starting at 4 pm. I will be there!

Had a fun night at the Ballpark. Got a good techno lesson from a friend of mine while playing on an I-phone. Wow! Application central. I did everything BUT talk on the damn phone. I think I know what my next purchase shall be. All in good time.

Mild weather to continue in North Texas through Monday. Then the storms return.

    Time for a walk!

Over and out in Big D
