Wet Willie (A different sort).
Yawn! Happy Wednesday. This is going to be a log day as there was a ballgame that ended at 12:40 this morning under threatening skies...
Simply put, the weather that I saw firsthand is something I won't soon forget. What was to have been a 7pm start got pushed back to a 9:30 pm start time. At 3pm it was apparent by the way the clothing stuck to me that it was a HOT afternoon. 97 to be precise. Ran home for a nap.
As I walked over to the Ballpark I noted the cloud cover and the gray out west. The mercury dropped to 88 degrees. At 7 I heard P.A. guy Chuck Morgan announce there would be a delay in the start of the Yankees Ranger game. The next 2 and a half hours brought some amazing weather that seemed to just stay in Arlington.
After an hour the skies darkened and for a moment it looked like we might avert the nasty weather. How wrong I was! A cavalcade of winds, rain, and a hailstorm that I have never seen before in my life pummeled Arlington to the tune of a temperature drop of 32 degrees in a very short time. Even my ears reacted to the pressure drop.
The game finally began and the Rangers gave Kevin Millwood much needed run support. Chris Davis with some timely hitting, a monster blast and the Texas took this game by a 7-3 score. The game ended at 12:38 this morning.
No sooner do I start walking out of the Ballpark, more lightshows, thunder and lightning await me from the west. I do a half jog back to the pad mere moments before the peltings resume. The Weather went ballistic with thunderstorm warnings for all of North Texas. Thankfully I was safe.
This was one time I wish I had brought my camera. The weather alone and the cloud formations were a sight to see. I am told tonight's game will be on ESPN. I look forward to cooler temperatures and a normal start time.
Time for a walk!
Over and out in Big D
