Coop and the Pope
Happy Hump Day friends! Hope you're having a great week!
This day in 1961, Hollywood heartthrob Gary Cooper passed away. I'll always remember his role as Lou Gehrig in 1942's 'Pride Of The Yankees'. A touching tribute with Theresa Wright was wife Eleanor. An illustrious career to be sure.
This day in 1981, Pope John Paul survived an assassination attempt. His shooter, Ali Agca, he would visit in jail to forgive him. That's huge! This mere days before his birthday. The Pope survived for many years thereafter. The attempt at his life created the Popemobile, replete with glass for protection.
Michael Young and Josh Hamilton both came back from the DL last night. And what a return for both! Hammy went deep for a 2 run homer, Crush Davis hit a tater in a 6th run 7th for a 7-1 win. Oh, did I mention Michael Young went 3 for 3 with 2 walks? Scott Feldman had great stuff for over six innings. Alas, it was a no-decision as Derek Holland would get his first major league win with over 2 innings of relief. Here's hoping this is a good homestand for the Texas Rangers. I'll be happy with a 4-2 homestand. With a Red Sox win in Anaheim, the Rangers currently enjoy a 1.5 game lead. It's early but this team continues to win under the radar.
Time for a nap!
Over and out in Big D
Mr Will
