Goodbye Frankie and Friends!
Happy Thursday friends. I hope you're having a wonderful week. The mind she be a racing...
This day in 1998, also a Thursday, two things happened that still remain engrained in my memory bank. An icon passed away and a TV series said goodbye. The series I speak of is 'Seinfeld' after a long run. Millions watched and said, 'Goodbye'. I wasn't a fan of the series then. I am now. Great writing on that series!
The pride of Hoboken, present company excluded, Francis Albert Sinatra passed away in California after a long illness. Frank's life was so diverse, so revered, so good, so bad, so...if there is a song that best exemplifies Franks life, he did it his way. I was a huge Sinatra fan. There wasn't an artist who not affected or/but influenced by what Old Blue Eyes did. The rumors that swirled around his life off the stage, the Rat Pack days, it was some life!
The Texas Rangers continue to breathe life into their young season with a dramatic walkoff win. Brandon McCarthy went a strong six plus inings, but no decision like Scott Feldman 2 nights ago. It was up to CJ Wilson to keep Texas in the game late. Josh Hamilton landed a bomb for the second straight night and extras were required.
In the bottom of the 11th inning, with 2 runners on, trailing 5-4, Hank Blalock ripped a deep double that cleared the bases for a 6-5 win. Much like Michael Young's blast on April 19th, the party awaitin Hank at home plate was euphoric and raucous. This team keeps finding ways to win. When was the last time Texas was five games over .500? That's my question. More games like this. I guarantee you no one will bitch about the economy and gas prices!
In light of the debacle of the Mavericks misfortunes at the hands of Denver, I foresee a summer of excitement for this young Ranger club. Injuries notwithstanding. First place for another day. I like the sound of that. Yes I do!
Texas will now try to sweep the Mariners with a 1pm game today. I will be there!
Time for a nap!
Over and out in Big D
Mr Will
