Not Quite As Taxing.
Happy Tax Day my friends! I was smart enough to wear a long sleeve shirt yesterday over Ranger garb. It wasn't enough to keep from getting a nice face and neck burn...As Mom taught me 26 years ago, a little Aloe Vera along the T-zone and you can stay wrinkle free. So much for beauty secrets...
Twas a great day for a round of golf, much less for a tournament that supports Texas Youth Baseball. DID SOMEONE SAY BASEBALL?!?!?! This is an event that continues to grow by leaps and bounds each year.
Brian James is the visionary behind it and to those who don't know him, BJ lives for big group gatherings where the food is plentiful and the drink flows like the Nile. (Note to Brian: You are the host stud!) This year's host was Bear Creek Golf Course in Euless...My crew of Adrian, Chris, and Carl were awesome in collecting a 74 for the round! I knew it would be a special day when a coyote trotted right past us on the first tee...
I want to thank the good people at Bear Creek for excellent attention to detail and service beyond the call of the norm. Jack Murphy, you sir are off the chain! The course was in excellent condition for a scramble, I made my usual three good shots, took some great photos and got to make some friends along the way. Representatives from Diageo, Coors Light, Budweiser, Andrews, my coworkers from Champps among others were also spoken for.
Ex-Rangers Jeff Russell (this year's host and next years too!), Bobby Witt, and Ken Hill partook in the festivities which ended with an auction for a kick-ass Berretta hunting gun, a host of golf bags with all the amenities, sports memorabilia, a fish fry dinner, chicken, beans, potato salad, and some mighty fine apple cobbler. Did I mention we were also fed prior to tee-off? After the website gets the complete makeover I will have more pics to share. I had a great time, and my thanks to Brian, Josh, Amy, Phaedra, and crew for allowing me to partake. Next to baseball, golf is probably my next obsession. One day I'll learn how to perfect it.
Make it a great day!
Over and out in Big D
Mr Will
