A Long Way to October!
Over the hump to you my friend. April is rolling right along, times are about to become a little 'taxing', the playoff scenes are about to grind it out, and the challenge of how to watch baseball and hockey on the same given day. Where there's a 'Will' there is always a way.
If I hear one more 'expert' on the TV or radio start with the Chicken Little 'The sky is falling' cry about the Rangers after ten games, I will demand to have all FCC licences revoked and I'll do it TABC style (gratuitous slam).
Note to all you fair weathered Texans who believe that any sport other than the Longhorns, Sooners, or Cowboys is an appetizer: In baseball we play ten times as many games as y'all do. If we spread each game out over a week we'd make a season last five years and the World Series would run until X-mas.
Baseball is a marathon, in 162 dates there will be 54 heartbreakers, 54 lovefests, and the remaining 54 determine how your fates shall lie. Imagine what Cowboy fans will say after one week when they lose at Jacksonville,'It's that damn TO guy! He's a jinx!'
A season isn't over after ten games. The Texas Rangers are legit, they'll hit the 87 game win mark, make Jon Daniels a genius, Theo Epstein an also ran, and humbly shut the mouths of so many ignoramuses that I'll be passing out the victory cigars come September. You read it here first.
Got to watch the Stars hold off a late Blue Jacket rush for a 3-2 victory at the AAC. It was the 52nd win for Dallas in 05'-06' and from what I saw the team appears to be ready to rock and roll, strut and stroll on all cylinders. Congrats to Jussi Jokinen for becoming the first Star rookie to reach 30 goals in a season.Bill Guerin's orbital injury is in the wane. Having him back in the lineup is incentive enough to believe this playoff run shall go deep with a possible trip to the Stanley Cup Finals. One can always hope. Here's hoping we play someone other than the Oilers in Round One. I prefer Colorado!
Big Golf Tournament upcoming this Friday at Bear Creek in Euless. I will be there along with a bunch of ex Rangers like Jeff Russell, Bobby Witt, Rusty Greer to name a few. 1:30 scramble and a camera in tow. I look forward to it. Now to buy a new golf bag!
HOT weather ahead for the Metroplex. 93 in April? Shades of 1980. I wasn't here but I remember reading about it.
Make it a great day.
Over and Out in Big D
Mr Will
