    Still The Fisher King!

Happy Thursday everyone! Hope it has been a fun and fortuitous week for one and all.

There was a moment last night right before midnight that I swore I was having a deja vu from year 2000 for an umpteenth time. Having to remain in the same building for the same result in less than 48 hours is rather maddening but it happened again. No different than what Derek Fisher did on Monday night Wednesday night Chauncey Billups would provide a dagger to the hearts of Mavericks fans with a chilling three pointer as the clock showed all of 1 second left.

I would have enjoyed that game much more had the refs not extended 20 seconds into 15 minutes. Please, for the love of God don't micro manage on the rules. Totally took away from the drama of the game. Let the players play and just call the blatant stuff, all right? No Vince (sprained foot) and a hobbled Dirk (bad knee).

Thankfully this match with the Clippers wasn't all bore and drab like the Laker game. Say what you want about Blake Griffin being over-rated or over hyped. The nucleus that is there with a healthy Caron Butler, Mo Williams, General Billups, and Chris Paul when ready-Woah! That is going to be a team to reckon with come playoff time. To say nothing of the great rivalry Los Angeles now gets to enjoy.

The deal gets done: 6 years and roughly 60 million for the newest Texas Ranger Yu Darvish. The deadline was reached with very little said except that a news conference was set for 7pm CST Friday night. This brought back so many memories of when Ichiro Suzuki came to the Mariners in 2001 and was precisely what was advertised.

Every start for Darvish will resemble a rock concert in the stands. Capturing and keeping the attention of the 18-24 year old demographic will be a snap. Lets hope there are no Japanese/Iranian Kardashians in the midst. I hope this kid comes better than advertised for 2012 and onward.

As the deadline drew near I had two people swing by for lunch to talk about music and minor league baseball. Longtime Rangers radio voice Eric Nadel and one time Ranger owner Chuck Greenberg! Two guys who are perhaps more passionate about baseball than I am, if that's possible. A good 90 minute discussion for these two gents. I wonder if they were awaiting word at the Four Seasons as well?

Sunny and 70 in North Texas. Supposed to top 76 before a cold front shoots on through Saturday for a day. Things to do and people to see.

    Make it a great day!

Over and out in Big D.

    Mr. Will
