Whoop Dat Ass!!!
Happy Thursday America!
I hope it has been an eventful and productive week for you. Tonight it returns with a vengeance. Nearly six months to the day that a lockout began. Tonight in the land of the only team still owned by the fans, the 92nd NFL season shall commence to alot of pomp and circumstance and perhaps some record ratings.
If you go by the quarterbacks alone you might think high scoring affair. There's always that argument that this early in the season the defense might have an added advantage over the offense. Not buying that line of bull but I do expect the Packers to win in a convincing fashion...say 30-21. Too many weapons for Aaron Rodgers and I have very little faith in the Saints defense to stop Donald Driver and company. What's the over/under going to be on the number of times we hear the word 'OTA's'? It was a thought...
The last 6 years NBC has televised the premiere game of the season, the defending Super Bowl champion has won every game. There's a good trivial tidbit for you! More concerns fall into the lap of the Dallas Cowboys. Tyron Smith is now out with a hyper extended knee. Not good news for the O line, to be sure. Call me crazy but I believe Sunday night's game near Ground Zero will be one where New York dominates between the 20s and the 'bend but don't break' defensive mantra of Dallas comes up with the stop, the turnover, the big play.
I also look for some special teams magic from Dallas in the name of Bryan McCann. Much like one year ago when the Cowboys came to New Jersey with a 1-7 record and blew the Giants out 33-20. Tony Romo will have a breakout game. Put me on record when stating that Mark Sanchez will look to be more unsure of himself st game's end. Dallas needs to be in Nick Mangold's face all night. A classic case of David and Goliath and I say Dallas finds a way.
Tomorrow I will return and address my picks for the first week of the NFL season. Green Bay going away tonight!
Had a fantastic time meeting a bunch of my Facebook friends at the Coal Vines bar in Plano over in Legacy-land. What a nice setup! The wine selection was amazing. Of course, I can only look and not partake because of my alcoholic predisposition. Saw more crystal than a marathon of watching 'Dynasty' on my DVD. Great selection for pizza as well. Locations in Uptown and Irving, I will definitely go back! My thanks to all my kindred spirits who have the back of 'The Handsome Devil'.
This day 1900 the Flood of Galveston happened. Reason #1 why a seawall was built to appease future bad weather, like Ike in 2008. This day 1974 Evel Knievel unsuccessful at a rocket launch over Snake River canyon in Idaho. This day 1975 Gerald Ford survives a foiled assassination attempt by Charles Manson sympathizer Lynette 'Squeaky' Fromme when the gun doesn't go off. Fromme now a Ft. Worth resident I am told. A 2nd assassination attempt would fail two weeks later in San Francisco.
Wherever you go to enjoy the pigskin proceedings, be safe and always DESIGNATE A DRIVER!
Make it a great day!
Over and out in Big D.
Mr. Will
