Baileys-Straight up!
Hello and Happy Tuesday!
Well it wasn't exactly a thing of beauty, nor was it even pretty. As is the case when the Cowboys and Redskins hook up, there tends to be a bit of drama at the end. Similar to last year at the gun if it weren't for a holding call by the O line.
A key conversion on 3rd and 21 with Dez Bryant-actually wearing thigh pads-making a clutch catch and subsequent face mask on his person placed Dallas in perfect position for Dan Bailey to be the hero for a second week in a row and an 18-16 score.
Still scratching my head at what caused Phil Costa to snap the ball inadvertently 5 times to Tony Romo before the said snap count was to be. I wondered aloud if maybe Tony having difficulty breathing was causing him to not speak with a consistent cadence. Romo was a warrior last night.
My biggest kudos goes to Felix Jones who-separated shoulder and all-managed to get 115 yards with little to no help up front. Rex Grossman looked anything but ready to handle the #4 defense in the NFL. This compared to 4 TD passes last year in a 33-30 loss here in Arlington. Sean Lee with another interception. I made this crack in San Antonio, 'If you get Player Of the Month they may need to rename camp 'Happy Valley Ranch'.' I'll stand by that assertion...
On behalf of the kicker I predict the #1 drink in North Texas shall be a Baileys, straight up!
The roof was open and Dallas secured it's first home opener in Arlington as over 90,000 people left happily. The lines were made longer due to newer security measures now in place. Again I picked the Skins to win/cover and they did. 9-6-1 for the 3rd week of picks. Year to date: 32-12-4! Week 4 will provide more head scratches I am sure.
What is it about Monday Night being the night we have six field goal nights? The brutal irony of the pigskin: Houston can get into the red zone 5 times, kick 5 field goals, and lose 40-33 while the Cowboys get into the red zone six times and win 18-16. Anemic but a win nonetheless. Week 4 with another team in Silver and Blue with a local quarterback who wears #9 is next: the 3-0 Lions. I smell trouble...
Three more days of regular season baseball left. Will it be the Rays, Red Sox, or Yankees for the Rangers? We'll soon find out. The Brewers of Milwaukee with an impressive 94 wub season to date. Can't count them out with a Zack Greinke even if everyone else has Philadelphia penciled in.
Last night's show was...interesting. Nothing less when two alpha types go at it. More of the same for the next few weeks as 'Monday Night In Texas' takes a hiatus and returns to 'Inside the Game' with your DFW Sports Angel.
Make it a great day! Ready for a lengthy run!
Over and out in Big D.
Mr. Will
