    One Monday Night Remembrance.

    Happy Saturday everyone.

You can expect a full on barrage of stories, tributes, photos, videos, and where are they now stories that will tie into everything we know and remember about 9-11-01 and the decade that has since passed. I remember where I was on that day and do not wish to rehash. I'll only get mad and out of sorts. Rather, I want to go back to that night before, a Monday and reminisce on and what I do remember before our world changed forever...

Just gotten home from a busy day at work in Addison, Texas. The weather was sunny and beautiful. My first autumn to be in Texas as I was slowly beginning to acclimate to my surroundings. Content to stay in and watch a new season of Monday Night Football. Yes, Dennis Miller worked alongside Dan Fouts and Al Michaels. Quite the trio. The Giants were in Denver for a great match.

Remember the news of the day? Gary Condit and missing intern Chandra Levy. Condit had just gone on the air and did a Bill Clinton with regards to his relationship with Chandra Levy. That was a running joke on Letterman and Leno. North Texas actually had a cooler than normal summer. I was about to discover just how big football in Texas was. From the high school to the pros...

I do remember a real back and forth event with the Giants and the Broncos. I remember Ed McCaffrey broke his leg after making a really tough catch. I even remember Reggie Jackson in the end zone high fiving a ballplayer after a touchdown was made. That was interesting.

As I look back now, I remember how happy and excited people seemed to be with autumn on the horizon. To think we were less than 12 hours away from a decade of change. 12 hours away from three separate incidents that would change America forever. Not to mention the look of downtown New York City.

I knew something was very wrong when the Starbucks I normally frequented was closed that Tuesday morning. I was getting that, 'dude are you even aware?'. I wasn't...until I got home and turned on the television. For 4 days I seethed in front of my set. Not going there now.

Yes, much has changed in the last decade. Yet, freedom will never lose. The will to fight for what's right will never ebb, and the desire for wanting to achieve a dream and make it reality will always remain available. For those who dare to.

On the eve of the worst act of terrorism on American soil, I vow I will never forget and always remember.

I know you will too. Fun time in Grand Prairie this evening for some playoff baseball with the Air Hogs and St. Paul Saints. Game 3 of a best of 5 championship round for the American Asociation. I look forward to it.

    Make it a great day!

Over and out in Big D.

    Mr. W
