    Fran and Roger and...

    Happy Thursday everyone.

Thankfully today there were no rolling blackouts in North Texas. The forecasters have stated that when alleged warmer weather arrives in North Texas this weekend, over 100 hours will have elapsed in which we stayed below freezing.

I try to paint a good spin on the weather we have experienced and can find no silver linings. Jerry Jones and the NFL will do just fine. So much so that when the rolling blackouts were happening, Jerry World, The NFL Experience, and most of downtown Dallas were immune from all the darkness. I am sure this will be a topic of scrutiny in the press after the freak show has passed. The kiddies got to stay home.

Another topic of scrutiny being bandied about by the media is the lack of preparation for all this cold weather. One question being asked, 'Why no salt? Why so many unsecured roads from the ice and cold?'

Certainly the media is having a field day with this one. Much can be said about Act Of God stuff. Yet, as Atlanta will now tell you, they aren't planning on a return appearance either by the NFL. I'm not holding my breath on this one either for Dallas...oops I mean Arlington...

The man I feel worst for is Roger Staubach. Today happens to be his birthday (Fran Tarkenton as well). As adept as Roger was to scramble his Super Bowl pitch into the fray, there is little he can do now to avoid the economic bust that awaits this city.

All the talk of how much money would be pumped into the economy this week has gone by the wayside. I mean, how do you navigate between the ice and snow and cold when the mercury wont get above 20? I wouldn't try either.

Parties and cancellations, tent hopes and dreams, celebrities and bigwigs, haves and have nots, in the end, the NFL and Jerry will be fine. I can tell you most assuredly that Dallas will never see this stage again. Be sure to enjoy the year that was. Once in a lifetime, indeed.

    Back to work, we think...

Over and out in Big D.

    Mr. Will
