A Moment to Recharge...
Hello and Happy Tuesday my friends.
The events of the past 96 hours have me somewhat run down despite my spirits being up. Crunch time shall now take effect between today and the 24th at the stores, your airports, the post offices, and the like. Try your hardest to exercise some control with the emotions as this procession is about to run it's course.
For starters I want to know why Mike Tomlin thought that a gimpy legged Big Ben would somehow be more effective than a rested and healthy Charlie Batch? That made no sense to me whatsoever in last night's 20-3 Niner win. You might recall I am on record to say that I expect to see the Brothers Harbaugh in the Super Bowl on 2/5th.
What impressed me most about last night's San Francisco victory wasn't so much the three interceptions made by the defense. Rather, I like the stat about the 49ers becoming the 1st team in NFL history to not allow a rushing touchdown in 14 straight games. You can make a case about just maybe San Francisco possibly being a fork in the Cheesehead path to a subsequent Super Bowl. Two power outages didn't hurt either to insure Jim's Boys remained spot on!
It's beginning to look like an 8-8 record will win the AFC West AND NFC East divisions in 2011. The craziness of all this continues in that if the Eagles, Giants, AND Cowboys all finish 8-8 Philadelphia goes in! As I joked to Dave Reidenour last night on 'Inside the Game' Philly will have made the switch from 'Dream Team' to 'Scream Dream'. Just had a Ted Nugent moment...
The pace will slowly begin to slow down as we now begin to get bowled over through the 9th or 10th of January. One fact to keep aware of: The Giants-Cowboys game on New Year's Day will NOT get flexed to NBC. That will stay on Fox at 3:15 and a huge ratings bonanza.
Between now and then, expect some surprises. Dallas Stars now play four of five here in Dallas. Nice over the Ducks last night. The Flyers roll on through tomorrow night one week before their outdoor game for the 2012 Winter Classic. I love watching this game to start the year off!
Make it a great day!
Over and out in Big D.
Mr. Will
