Double The Loss!
Man oh man, it sure feels like that August night in 1977...what Im blown away by is how quickly the news travelled alot more slowly unlike this day. We began the day remembering an Angel. Instead we were inundated by a freak show in the name of the King of Pop. I have ambivalent feelings about all of this.

Who doesnt remember the impact that Michael Jackson had in music as a youth with his family? When he went solo in 1979? The mega-awesome album 'Thriller' in 1982? And yes Eddie Van Halen played guitar on that album...the title track video?
Yes there were off the stage incidents that will forever tarnish the image and the great contributions given. I'll never forget a 1983 performance at the Apollo where he did his moonwalk and the crowd EXPLODED into applause.
TMZ was first to announce the passing. The rest of the media peeps caught on a little later. While the tributes and life review continue, I am waiting for the other shoe to drop. I expect to find an autopsy that screams drug addiction and too many irtems in the mix. I hope I am wrong but having seen what John Belushi, Elvis Presley, Kurt Cobain, and Chris Farley did prior to moving on, I know the pattern routine. MJ will be no different, sadly!
There will be stories and jokes galore that pop up in the weeks and years to come across the world. I'm in no position to pass judgment on what a person did/didn't do in their life while alive. I choose to remember the man who was the 'King Of Pop' onstage. A true icon who achieved worldwide stardom, success, and sales.
In death, Elvis, Marilyn, and James Dean sell pretty well. Look for MJ songs and merchandise to sell through the roof. R.I.P MJ.

I watched 'Charlies Angels' religiously as a kid in the late 70's. I also possess the infamopus poster of Farrah with the look of cool air on her chest:) I will remember her great work on the 1984 movie, 'The Burning Bed'. I will remember all the bull she had to deal with when Ryan O'Neil entered the picture. I wasn't aware that O'Neil ruined a 20 year friendship with Lee Majors to be with Farrah Fawcett. In life Farrah was a shining example of what being true to yourself meant. In death, she will serve as a great example of going with dignity.
Her final videos for cancer awareness put a lump in my throat. She was one strong woman! On a day when Farrah was completely put on the backburner for a freakshow, I applaud NBC's 'Dateline' for a great 2 hour tribute.
Spending the rest of the day watching all the stories and opinions on Fox, CNN, and TMZ...
Time for a big glass of water!
