    Fizzling Wood...

I never thought the #1 area of concern would be the ability to hit a baseball to score runs. With a shoddy error on a fly ball in the sun courtesy of Nelson Cruz, the Rangers now enjoy a 4 game skid and have had all kinds of trouble pushing a run across. Take away Home Runs by Ian Kinsler and Andruw Jones, you are talking about an 0 for 46 skid in the hope of getting a hit.

The crazy thing about all this is that the Ranger pitching has been lights out! To lose a heartbreaker on a wild pitch Saturday night in 11 2-1, that's frustrating! Derek Holland finally cracked the 7 inning plateau and will continue to get better. Matt Cain is worth all the print he is currently enjoying. What stuff and what control! Too bad they play in the N.L. West where no one will catch the Dodgers.

The talk about Chris Davis being a problem can no longer be said. Kinsler, Young, Cruz, Byrd, and even Salty are collectively as cool as the other side of the pillow. This drought should soon end. Once the bats get warmer, things should remain interesting for the Arlington faithful.

Barry Zito LOVES to play the Rangers. A 2 hitter against the Rangers in 2005 and another 2 hitter he tossed in August 2006. I remember he went 7 innings before a Ranger broke up the no-no. This day he went 6 before allowing a walk and tater. With the 3-2 loss today, Texas remains winless in the Bay Area at 0-11. That is frustrating! I hope the trip to Arizona is what the doctor ordered.

Rangers return Friday to Arlington to play the Padres. I will be there! Camera in tow.

    Time for a walk!
