    Cancer Blows!

Happy Friday to you my friends!

It is with a heavy heart that I type this report. He we are mere hours away from starting the 2009 Byron Nelson and it will continue without Phil Mickelson. It was announced that wife Amy has breast cancer. Phil withdrew from the tournament and PGA indefinitely to be by his wife's side. Amy was one of the more visible wives who had no problems cavorting with the fans. Many people are sending best wishes to the Mickelson family. A few golfers will be wearing pink this weekend to raise cancer awareness. Godspeed to Amy Mickelson!

Godspeed may also be in order for the Texas Rangers as they were swept out of Detroit with a 4-3 defeat. Another complete game start for ace Kevin Millwood (who has been automatic in reaching the 8th inning when he starts). Sadly he got burned late after Nelson Cruz knocked a 2 run hit for a 3-all tie.

Miguel Cabrera gets a the game-winning hit with a 2 out hit as the Tigers sweep the Rangers. It wasn't as if the Rangers were blown out in any of the games. Curtis Granderson also went deep with a 2 run hammer. Texas has now lost 11 straight at Comerica. Unless they meet again in October, that's the last tie the Rangers visit Detroit in 2009. Thank God!

It is now off to Houston for Texas for some two-stepping Interleague Play. May Texas turn their luck around.

It has also been an unbelievably mild and sunny week in North Texas. No humidity either for that matter!

    Time for a walk!

Over and out in Big D
