    211 in Progress?

Happy Sunday everyone! Ah, for sunny cooler weather...

Americans will catch a break on the level of price gauging once the holidays precede the summer. Still at 2.11/gal here in Arlington.

Rain and winds made yesterday a rarity in North Texas for an afternoon game with the Rangers and Halos. I dressed warmly yet still had the shivers for two hours after the game. Doing better yet was quick to joke with the guys that this was the last time we'd see a 64 degree reading for a May Day in North Texas. This upcoming week will be on the cooler side, topping out at 84 all week long. That will make the Byronites happy. Yes, I made that up...

Another day. another way for the Texas Rangers to find a way to win. For the 3rd game in a row, the defense turned 3 double plays, For the 3rd start in a row Vicente Padilla went into the 8th inning. Amazing when you consider that his pitch count after 4 innings was at 82. Then Padilla found his mojo and only tossed 33 pitches through 8. CJ Wilson got the save and Texas prevailed 5-3.

Speaking of prevailing, fans today are wondering what John Lackey was thinking? Two deliberate pitches at Ian Kinsler. The second plunking Ian's ribs, and Lackey gets the boot! His first start of the season and only 2 tosses? Yeesh! It was rumored that Ian Kinsler was showboating on his 2 homers Friday night. Saw the replays and I say, 'Bullshit!'

For the uneducated or the unaware. When you are an up and comer and you battle the defending division champ, you will sometimes get tested by means of intimidation. I can tell you that Ron Washington and Rangers prefer to let their play prevail. As beat up as the Anaheim bullpen is, again I question what Mike Scioscia was thinking by going after the MVP front runner...

Texas will try to get the sweep this day with Scott Feldman on the mound. His opponent is a man who has been tough in Arlington. Jared Weaver is 3-0 against Texas. A 5-1 homestand is outstanding, A 6-0 homestand would be epic! I'll cross my fingers.

My friend Shelby Bishop graduated from SMU yesterday. Laura Bush gave the commencement speech. I remember what Shelby said to me six years ago when declaring, 'If I get a chance to go back to school, I will run with it!' I knew you had it in you, Shel. Congrats and know that the Master if very very proud! Best of luck in all you do, friend!

    Time for a walk!

Over and out in Big D
