    Do The Carlton Dance?

Random rants and thoughts as the sounds of Slipknot and Tool rage through my cranial reserves. It had been a year since last I saw an old acquaintance, heading for brighter pastures in Cali and now doing the same in Arizona. Knowing fully well not to talk about last Monday night's debacle with the Cardinals, it was a hoot to just spend an afternoon talking about life with friend Dave. Note to Cindy: Make thyself available if able, for Dave shall be here until Wednesday morning. Davey boy just LOVES the female attention whenever he comes to Las Colinas.

It enlightens me to say that in the last week I have had three really positive get-togethers with three individuals for whom I am grateful to have allowed into my life. Sis, L3 and DP, I thank thee. While we were rapping, I cannot believe: Just as I said would happen, Nebraska has a chance to use the homefield and the snowy elements to snatch a win from the Texas Longhorns, only to lose in dramatic fashion 22-20. You just don't fumble away a game with four minutes left. I expect a rematch come Big 12 champion time in early December.

Like a Duck taking to water, I watched with awe just how dominant the Cougs were in their total control of their game with Oregon. Anytime the peeps from Pullman can get a win on an Oregon team, it's almost as epic as an Apple Cup triumph...

A few weeks back we all cursed the Michigan State Spartans for blowing a 19 point lead to Notre Dame at home. Yeah that pretty much sucked! How does one even begin to explain overcoming a 35 point deficit against the fighting Illini and coming up victorious?!?! Unbelievable!

A barn burner in Northern California as the Golden Bears and Huskies go to overtime and Cal gets-r-done with a game ending INT. This is not the same team I watched back in week one at Neyland Stadium...Thank God they proved me right.

Notre Dame survives a scare as Brady Quinn connects for a game winner to Mr Samardzija 20-17 in the last minute. Now the whole world awaits what the Fighting Irish will do in Trojanland. Will there be a BCS title on the line?

How good Dallas Stars rookie Mike Smith looked in his goalie debut as Marty Turco rested. 22 stops and a 4-0 shutout as Dallas improves to 7-1 in this early part of the season. Buffalo now shoots to 8-0. A test will now await the Stars with the Canucks on Monday night. May Dallas put a bitch slap to those mother-canuckers (smile).

That it took over 104 years for two rookies to start in an opening World Series game. Alberto Reyes was three outs away from being the first rookie to get a complete game win since Joe Black of the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1952. Later tonight you'll have a battle of ex-Yankee throwaways in Motown. Cards can now relax having taken the first game rather easily.

31 years ago today one of the most exciting World Series' would end as the Reds would hold off the Red Sox 4-3 in a thrilling Game seven. Red Sox fans of course felt the same way 24 hours earlier when Bernie Carbo hit a three run pinch hit homer, and Carlton Fisk hits a pole shot in inning 12 for a 7-6 win. Game six actually ended 34 minutes into this day in 1975.

Today is also the last day for the Texas State Fair. Like a blur, it arrives and just like that, it is but a memory...

Those of you who noticed how cold it was in Lincoln Nebraska yesterday, for the second time in three days what began as a warm day would slowly wane in mercury as cold fronts would work their way south into Dallas from the Rockies. From 76 to 49 in about three hours time gave my teeth a chance to sound like castanets on the drive home from Las Colinas. Tomorrow I fire up the ole fireplace. You're welcome to swing by...Bring your wood...bring your friends...bring your wooden friends...

Over and out in Big D

    Mr Will
