The Cold Rode to Home.
Greetings from FRIGID Dallas where the only assault I want to hear about is that which you put on icy roads...BRRRR! They say you can warm up in the cold but not cool off in the heat? Hmmmmm!
Had you gone to the AAC last night to watch the Stars continue their winning ways you would have enjoyed an exciting finish. With only 15.8 seconds left Jere Lehtinen hits the game winner for a 4-3 victory. Since 1989 the Dallas Stars have incredible success against teams in the Southeast division...8-0-0 against the Thrashers, 5-4-2 against the Hurricanes, 7-3-1 against the Panthers, 7-2-1 against the Lightning, and 7-1-2 against the Capitals. That's a combined 34-10-5 and a .745 percentage. Nice going eh?
On the way home I saw some stupid drivers needing to be leader of the pole position, sliding across the roads for their stupidity! One 18 wheeler jack-knifed 30 yards ahead of me, another tried going uphill and only went off the embankment sideways. For the most part, if you kept your speed at 30 MPH you were okay. At 3 this morning, the mercury read 18 in Arlington. At noon today Dallas sits at 21. COLD!
Lots of panicky Cowboy fans wondering how this weekend will turn out for them when they play Kansas City. Better yet, does this count as a rivalry since the Chiefs were once known as the Dallas Texans? If the Cowboys win Sunday it will only be because of special teams. The KC running game will be an issue.
The Winter Meetings wrap up today in Dallas and of course Jon Daniels gets the fans worked up over nothing. How long before we hear the following: Daniels may have the title but John Hart is pulling the strings. That said, I will stand by my hope against all odds that when 2006 rolls around we have Kevin Millwood in our house.
John Lennon really left us 25 years ago? Damn! Where does the time go?
Stay warm, and be safe!
Over and out in Big D
Mr Will
