    First Place Shootouts!

A busy Saturday in the world of sports. Some 50,000 fans are expected to watch Southlake Carroll and Plano do battle in 5A play later today at Texas Stadium.

If the UIL were smart they would have had Highland Park play their game right after the Dragon matchup instead of at Fouts Field in Denton. I know John Stafford personally and expect big things from son Matthew in his 4A matchup. That young man will make a great Bulldog!

I don't expect any upsets on this championship weekend of college football. I do find it amazing that a college team can play one game for huge $$$ while a high school team in Texas must play 5 weeks of playoff ball before a champion is crowned. Amazing.

First hockey shootout came to the AAC last night. It was a thriller. Goalie Johan Hedberg starts his first game in a month, shook off the rust, and made some nice stops in a 5-4 win that was decided by Mike Modano.

Many fans unaware that a shootout goal isn't tallied the way a regular goal is. So no hat trick for Mikey Mo. Again the Stars look strong. Nice to say 'First Place' Stars too! Found it interesting that all of a sudden after I mentioned Trans-Siberian Orchestra yesterday, the peeps at the AAC had 'X-mas in Sarajevo' piped in and ready at pre game. The Master has the pulse on what is in the now!

Congratulations to Marty Turco getting player of the month...Ranger Chris Young was in attendance. He and Michael Young were born the same day and the same year-10/19/76...

The Dallas Cowboys will have their problems in New York dealing with the Giants. I look for Eli, Plexico, Tiki, and Feely to bounce back with no false starts. As for all this rubbish about 'pumping up the noise', give me a break! Playa hatin', that's all! Colts are 11-0, deal with it.

Kyle Farnsworth is now a Yankee. I am now convinced that the Rangers will not win one bidding war against any big market team, unless Alfonso Soriano is the trade bait. Before April, I have a strange feeling Soriano winds up with the Nationals.

I will not get my hopes up this winter on trade talks but I will pay close to what is discussed next week at the Wyndham Anatole in Dallas by the owners. Not to worry, I am still going to renew my season seats. With my luck the only trade Texas will succeed at is getting Octavio Dotel just to upset the Coco cart.

Another record setting day in North Texas weather-wise. If you don't like the weather in Texas, just wait a day...as opposed to five minutes if this were Chicago.

    Have a great weekend!

Over and out in Big D

    Mr Will
