Getting Closer

A sunny breezy Saturday this is

Feeling reflective, giddy and content

Pondering events of the last few weeks

With no remorse and little regret

The change was imminent. I was due

My kick was missing albeit burnt out

Mistaking my career for a life

Forgot to stop and smell the roses

This day I have nothing but time

To thoroughly relish in the freedom

Doing the dabble from writing to world events

Sitting back as a watchful observer

5 hours a night I go on stage

In a restaurant, giving my all

The payback is a well deserved gratuity

Knowing from my peers I have respect

Not overly concerned with what's to be

For I know God has a plan

Only when I want to, only when I'm ready

Only then shall I go back into my hobby

The digital face now seen as radio

Be it here in Seattle or elsewhere

Seven year stretch with experience plus

I worry not about what's next

Close contact within the family

Fully aware I'll be alright

Putting the faith in me and not others

Going back to that special place

Where all I know and all that I believe

Will take me to the next destination

I'm getting closer
