    Park Cities Recap!

If I hadn't witnessed with my own eyes, I would never have believed it. You can refer to Thursday night's game as M.O.M.S. or 'Miracle on Main Street'. On November 23rd, 2004 Highland Park and Keller had a battle of first place teams that the Scots won by a 3-1 count. On a day when an inauguration was taking place and Keller hoping to exact a little revenge, things looked good for the first 17 minutes as they jumped out to a 4-0 lead, courtesy of some fine play by Tom Biles, Cody Sedwick, and Chris Kiminki.

Austin Pitzer would then score a goal off a face-off for the Scots to make it 4-1. Bryan Lawrence would reach net in the next 70 seconds. He would connect again as the 2nd period ended. Goals by Chet Donnelly, Locke Jillson, Bryan Lawrence(3 in 2 weeks)would account for the biggest comeback in Scots hockey history. 6 unanswered goals after trailing 4-0 in a 6-4 victory.

NOBODY was sitting at games end as the Scots improve to 11-3-1. It was interesting to see Highland Park show some 3rd period resiliency-something that was lacking in their two losses to Mansfield earlier this season. Keller (still in first place) falls to 7-6-2. Arlington Martin up next for Highland Park. Coach Kostopoulos was beside himself with satisfaction...Way to go Scots!

To say that the level of talent in Division 11-4A play is tough would be an understatement. In the course of district play the Lady Scots have had to contend with a #4 and #9 ranked opponent in Wylie and Mesquite Poteet. Pirates aside, Highland Park was able to get a road win in Terrell earlier this week as Allison Keller had the hot hand sinking trey after trey and snagging 30 points alone in a 63-44 thrashing of the Terrell Lady Tigers. Maggie Deichert hit for 14 in the win. No rest for the weary as the Lady Scots went home to battle the Lady Wranglers of West Mesquite.

The 20-6 Lady Wranglers had so many different weapons, pulling off a 22-2 run late in the first half and start of 3rd period. Shelita Clark made 14 points as did Chanel Byrd in a West Mesquite victory Friday night at the Douglas Fieldhouse. Grace Dietrich had her best game of the year in defeat with 12 points. The Lady Scots fall to 1-4 in district play and 13-14 overall. Keep an eye on West Mesquite. They will give Wylie and Poteet a tough time. Lots of size on Coach York's team. Forney is next for Coach Nowakowski's girls, a team they lost to by 5 two weeks ago.

There's your Park Cities update. Special thanks to Betsy Lawson for the stats and Blake Taylor for the support...Frisco tomorrow!
