Five more teams, five more coaches and players from Oklahoma, Iowa State, West Virginia, Kansas State, and Texas. Players from each of those teams also were in attendance at the Omni Hotel in downtown Dallas Texas.
And so we've talked about it. We certainly hope that we've learned from it. And that's like I said, the only way to get experience is to go out there, feel it, touch it, have a taste for it. And that taste wasn't very good. So it's been very motivating for us all spring and summer.
I think that the only position arguably you could say have been in Big 12 caliber for the last two years has been the running back position. And I think our running back position will be a position of strength once again even though James is gone.
So those are the principles of our entire team. And for them to see that and see that result, that positive result was huge. And it was particularly great for the quarterback to have the ups and downs he had and become Holiday Bowl MVP as a freshman was huge. He had a tremendous spring, and I expect that to carry on in the next year.
And so therefore the cost is higher, and you begin to look and say do we want to have 25 sports and fund this broad array of benefits, or would we be better off to fund a broader array and sponsor only 20 sports. So that's why I think it's not too much of a leap.
