Blame It On Fatigue!
In what was a make-up on the schedule after a June 22nd rainout at LaGrave Field the FW Vaqueros FC finished out their home part of the schedule June 30th with a 5-0 loss to the San Antonio Corinthians FC.
And with the loss there went any chance the Vaqueros (1-6-1 4 pts) to advance into the playoffs.
Johnny Lawson got the scoring started in the 10th minute for San Antonio. It became 2-0 in the 23rd minute when Andrew Carbajal found the net in the 23rd minute-his 1st in the NPSL.
Right before the break it became 3-0 when Vincent Bailey would top shelf a shot in the 41st minute to place the Corinthians ahead 3-0 before two second half goals in the 65th and 67th minutes from Carbajal and Lawson wrapped up the scoring.
Vaqueros Coach Mark Snell was unavailable due to a suspension. Zach Adler also unavailable due to a red card attained in the June 21st loss to Dallas City FC.
“Obviously, it was a poor performance,” Vaqueros coach Mark Snell said. “But from a broader perspective they fought like crazy on Sunday night. They were not recovered. We had several injuries, players missing for different reasons and it just turned out to be a chaotic performance, but I can’t fault the effort. 90 percent of the cause goes to playing two nights in a row,” Snell added. "To play back-to-back is just suicide. There’s pride at stake now because we’re officially out of the playoffs.”
Ft. Worth will finish out the regular season in College Station July 6th after a 2-1 defeat in San Antonio on July 4th.
“The team played outstanding tonight,” Fort Worth coach Mark Snell said. “We dominated possession but just couldn’t find the back of the net. I was very pleased and we look forward to our final NPSL game on Sunday.”
Both Dallas City FC and San Antonio will represent as part of the four teams to play in Tulsa for the South Central Conference Championship Tournament. July 25th the Vaqueros will be a part of a Charity Shield Event match to help benefit Hispano Exito.
Come next season I will be back.
