Grandstanding Before The Dominance!
Once in a while it behooves a person to go outside the realm of routine. Go someplace and enjoy the company of different people while you have a major event going on.
Is there anything that even comes close to the magnitude of the Super Bowl?
This weekend marks two years since beginning a podcast that continues to gather steam online and through word of mouth.
'Hanging w/Mr. Will' continues to remain heavy on content and heavier on fun facts and entertainment.
Normally my Super Bowl Sunday is spent either at work or at home. Unlike many of my codependent friends I am very content to watch games by myself without the trauma drama of having to babysit a lost soul. Today I chose to go a different route.
The BGC Sports Network began its second month on the web. Cedric Bailey decided to to go with a live show at his home away from home. TJs Catfish Wings on Green Oaks Blvd in Arlington. Cedric, Charles Boyd, Gin Blanton, Reggie Bush lookalike James Nokes, Miss Gwenn and of course Travis Johnson, proprietor of TJs Catfish Wings now in their 10th year of operation.
With the weather getting ugly and snowy in parts of North Texas I was very content to sit back in one of the makeshift grandstands and let the kids talk away while shooting video at TJs. Being a novice to Catfish I was given a quick tour inside the kitchen to illustrate just how timely and how busy TJs would be on Super Bowl Sunday for Dine-In or Takeout.
In between shooting video and taking pictures on the computer and the Ipad I was kept busy while enjoying some succulent Hush Puppies and Catfish with fries. Tracking the commercials as we neared kickoff also got interesting which is less than I can say for the big game. Once the safety kicked the action off I knew it was over.
Yes, defense wins championships and Seattle played one of the more dominant games in a Super Bowl with a resounding 45-8 thumping of the Denver Broncos. Each of the five Denver Super losses have now happened when the Orange Crush uniforms are being worn. Peyton looked terribly exposed and for the life of me I am angry to think that I believed Peyton Manning was going to handle the #1 defense.
It was like watching the Bears of 1985 and Ravens of 2000. I was that impressed. The game became very boring by halftime so of course the kids decided to have some fun on camera. Who am I to deny the kids some fun on Super Bowl Sunday?
My thanks to Charles Boyd, Cedric Bailey, Gin Blanton, Shelby Smith, Travis Johnson, Miss Vanna, Miss Gwenn, and the staff of TJs Catfish for the hospitality on Super Bowl Sunday. For being one to normally lay low and just stay in loner man cave mode this day was spent exactly as I wanted among some familiar faces.
Congratulations to the good people of Seattle Washington. WNBA notwithstanding for the 1st time in 35 years you get to enjoy a championship. A well deserved one at that. Can't believe I didn't see it coming.
At least there's always next year.
Over and out in Big D.
Mr. Will
