    Thundering Panic?

Hello and Happy Tuesday everyone. Hard to believe Osama Bin Laden has been gone 1 year.

Today was about 48 degrees hotter than it was one year ago today. A day where North Texas was getting deluged with inclement weather, a tornado watch, and ominous clouds in addition to cold weather. I was with a friend watching hockey in Allen. The game ended with a Mud Bugs win. I stopped by a cigar shop. Then it happened.

Somebody on my Facebook page messaged me to say 'Fox News now!' So we did. In the next couple of hours I remember Geraldo Rivera getting as animated as he was the day he cracked open Al Capone's vault thirty years ago as we got confirmation of the death of Osama Bin Laden. The Twitter and Facebook world then went viral. It was crazy. Alas, that was one year ago.

It was also one year ago at this time the Dallas Mavericks made a run to the Championship trophy. That was also a memorable run. Overcoming multiple double digit deficits to Portland, Los Angeles, and Oklahoma City leading up to Miami was pretty sweet. Getting to enjoy it firsthand was even sweeter. Alas, we aren't anticipating a repeat of last spring here in North Texas.

The current staff of Thunder players collectively remind me alot of the 2011 Mavericks. I never thought in the space of 1 year we would see the maturation and selflessness of one Russell Westbrook. James Harden's mental approach to Kevin Durant's physicality mesh nicely. Add a late season acquisition like Derek Fisher and you anticipate a quick one and done for the Mavericks who became too old and too slow overnight.

Two losses by a total of four points. Dallas can argue that they should be up 2-0 except for some bad bounces. Even so, this does not resemble a team that is playing on the same page. Even with the 'home cooking angle' the Mavericks look like a team about to get shredded even with a big lead. All season long they have strived to jell and that just hasn't happened.

Because of all the CBA language we are told why the team could not be kept intact. It shall be no surprise when the Dallas squad of 2012 looks very foreign except for Dirk and Coach Carlisle. Based on what I have seen so far it is my contention that the Thunder will reach the Finals and upset the Heat to many a fans satisfaction.

Welcome to May, golf locally, the Kentucky Derby, Mayfest, The Indy 500, warmer weather, and a return for C.J. Wilson and the Anaheim Angels with Albert Pujols. Still seeking his first homer in 2012. Amazing.

    To a great month!

Over and out in Big D.

    Mr. Will
