    Weighty...And Not So Weighty!

    Happy Sunday Everybody.

For those of you who inquire, this morning I got on the scale and the scale reads 201. A drop of 49 pounds since my birthday! Mindful of the accountability involved here insofar as maintenance, I am keenly aware that losing weight is only half the battle. Keeping it off a bigger challenge. I learned this lesson back in 2007 when I stopped doing what brought me to the dance, so to speak. I believe I have a plan in place this time around.

There have been a combination of things I have been doing. Elliptical, jogging, walking, of late the jump rope, and some light work doing knee lifts and dips on that contraption where you rest your elbows some three feet off the floor. Jogging I have gone as high as 3.16 miles. Walking as high as 6 miles.

By the miracle of good luck and good health no pain experienced whatsoever when running. This was a childhood love of mine growing up in New Jersey. I still remember what Nick Serritella once told me, 'Run til it hurts...Exercise suppresses hunger!' These words I have kept to heart.

Where diet is concerned the smartest thing I did was to 'Just Say No' to the late night ice cream binges of Ben and Jerry...to the tune of 1 gallon a day. Not fun, I can tell you. Lots of water, bananas, juices, and a strong vitamin regimen which has been a part of my life for almost 32 years. Another of Mom's beauty tips next to the one about moisturizing the T zone...

Thoughts and prayers continue to go out to the people in the direct line of fire of Hurricane Irene. Seeing footage of sharks swimming where roadways normally lie is reason enough to not venture out. Something you might not be aware of:

The death toll may be small now. That number rises for the following reasons: Making the mistake of touching a livewire, overexertion of work which leads to heart attacks, debris left behind that you don't notice. Something to be aware of after this bad weather has run its course. This on the eve of Katrina, the damage will surely surpass the Bayou. Be safe out there!

Less than 24 hours after last night's Cowboys victory at Minnesota, concerns continue to mount for the defense of the Cowboys. If your heart is strong enough to handle the 'bend but don't break' mentality of Rob Ryan's troops, then Bless Your Heart. I really thought that Abram Elam had the interception on the catch Bernard Berrrian made to start the game.

I also had a feeling that for some of the defense men, namely Keith Brooking, Saturday's win although an exhibition exacted a bit of revenge and validation after the playoff loss 20 months ago. Remember the sight of Brooking getting all mad and vowing revenge when Brett Favre threw a deep bomb for a touchdown and accusations of running up the score? Just an observation is all.

CJ Wilson was anything but his usual self on Saturday. It's a long way until October 1st but from where these eyes sit, this Ranger ball club appears tired and gamely holding on...like a ship at sea facing the teeth of Hurricane Irene? How's that for alliteration?

Birthday wishes to Miss Heidi. Hope all is well in Everett and to Michelle. Enjoy your day kids.

Saturday September 17th I will also be emceeing another event that will benefit the Genesis Womens Shelter at the Delante Clubhouse in Irving Texas. From 8p until the music stops. That evening's theme will be 70's music, dancing, and a welcome to ANYBODY with a September birthday. You are urged to come out and get your freak and groove on. There will be a silent auction for items and prizes.

For more information feel free to contact Barbie Dombro: Hatrageous@gmail.com  I'll be there I hope you'll be there too.

Don't forget tomorrow night at Quick Trip ballpark in Grand Prairie (before the season finale for your Grand Prairie Air Hogs) I will be emceeing a tribute night to former Rangers Skipper Frank Lucchesi. Ex-Rangers and players will be in attendance. There will be some surprises and I am so grateful to Jean Robb and Karen Renee Lucchesi. On the heels of the skipper becoming a newlywed, this is an honor I will enjoy.

2011 now about 2/3 done. What a long strange trip it's been.

    Make it a great day!

Over and out in Big D.

    Mr. Will
