Countdown to Gated...
Hello and Happy Monday.
Yes, it is Valentines Day. A day that takes on new meaning for some. Just another day for others. If you're involved with the people of Hallmark or Godiva, then today is your opportunity to make a killing in the name of chocolate and flowers and cards. If you're single and not looking today will be a momentary lapse of reason for the young.
It's hard to not enjoy a day like today when the mercury goes high into the 70s with no sign of cold weather for the next week to ten days. Ideal weather to get you fired up and ambitious when tackling chores that require your attention.
The last couple of days I have found myself daydreaming. This Friday the 18th will mark ten years I have resided on Texas soil. The very day that Dale Earnhart Sr. died at Daytona. In some ways the last ten years have been a blur. In other ways this has been a very memorable decade in Lone Star country.
This Friday will also mark the end of a six year run in Arlington Texas. My longest tenure anywhere since living at home with Mom and Dad. Quickly discovering and becoming aware of how much 'stuff' tends to accumulate over a period of time.
The city of Irving will now capture my attention for the immediate future. It was time. I was ready for a change. A chapter now about to close. Do not be surprised if you don't see me catching a ballgame in 2011. I will be busy with other projects. I look forward to getting involved in other areas of events.
Summers spent outdoors in 100 degree heat, usually rooting for a below average product, over and done. Winters spent dealing with idiots unable to merge into traffic on the 183 off the 360. Those days about done. Needless traffic and noise on game days with the Cowboys. Next! Looking forward to watching hockey/basketball and driving 19 miles roundtrip-Priceless.
My thanks to the many people with their assistance of boxes and well-wishers. All the essentials are almost packed and ready to go. Change isnt always easy. This switch I'm getting excited about. As I have been joking in the last month, 'From ghetto to gated'. This shall complete a cycle of good that I have been working hard for.
Im also told that later this month my car will be good as new and ready to go. Things tend to happen for a reason. The current rental I drive shall serve a purpose in the days that lie ahead while moving. Determining what stays and goes shall be another matter. All in due course.
If in Las Colinas, stop by the River for a rocking Valentines Day dinner. A great steak/lobster dinner is available this night for a great price. Otherwise be safe and have fun on this day of days.
Over and out in Big D.
Mr. Will
