Third time The Charm!
Happy Monday to you. May this be the start of a fun and productive week for all. Still recovering from sleep deprivation from yesterday's early morning implosion. The response on Youtube and on the web has been off the chain.
Already I am hearing the arguments about why this landmark got the shaft while the Cotton Bowl stays where it is. I was chuckling when hearing that yesterday was Dog Bowl day for pet owners. Cotton Bowl went to the dogs years ago. I'd have imploded the Cotton Bowl and saved Texas Stadium. The fact that it sits in Fair Park, that simply will not happen. Found it funny nonetheless.
I give Tiger all the credit in the world. It takes a special talent to withstand the rigors of off course peccadilloes and demands of fans and media to be able to say (despite 144 days of hell) 'I got 4th place!' For anyone else that would be manna from heaven. Not for Tiger Woods. He plays, he expects to win. Imagine what might have happened had he done so.
For the last week, the cameras were on Tiger. Little if anything was said about Philly Mack. The way yesterday played out, Phil was okay to let his actions speak. THAT SHOT ON #12 BETWEEN THE TREES was the best shot of the tournament! I just stood there and said 'Wow!' That was when I had a feeling it wasn't going to be KJ Choi's day.
I smiled when noting that Phil's first and 3rd Green Jacket were won on the same date albeit six years apart. To see the emotion on his and Amy's face put things in perspective. Amy continues with her cancer fight while Phil continues being the stoic Dad. He has come a long way since the one stroke loss to Payne Stewart in 1999's U.S. Open.
Phil is a classy guy. Who better to win a major tournament after all the crap we had to read and hear about since Thanksgiving? Lee Westwood will be asking 'what if' after his scary run after Amen Corner. A 3rd major in six years after none for 14, there's no substitute.
Tiger Woods will go away and regroup. He will bounce back. He always does. He just had to be emotionally spent after the week came to an end. Imagine if Tiger had won and Elin was there to hug him and congratulate him? Record ratings.
Congratulations Phil Mickelson on a job well done. Thanks for being the last Great White Hope in these trying times.
Make it a great week!
Over and out in Big D
Mr. Will
