Tragedy and Triumph...
It is truly amazing to me the way that anniversaries come and go. Usually when you get to a 5,10, 15, and 20 year mark it's great to look back and reminisce. Not quite at that mark but awfully close was something we saw happen before our very eyes on television. 73 seconds that won't soon be forgotten bv those affected and by those who were witness to the events of the Space Shuttle disaster.
Weather was at issue this day in 1986. There was alot of conjecture as to whether or not the flight should ever have taken place. It did and with tragic results. Seven people perished on that sad day, including a school teacher we became very close to. Christa MacAuliffe. It was one of the few moments where it was a better idea to be sober and alert and not in a drunken stupor. It would happen again almost to the day in 2003. Another story, another time.
Happy Birthday to the Dallas Cowboys! 50 years ago today, a football team was awarded a franchise in the Lone Star state. Little did anyone know of all the innovations that this team would be responsible for, or for the level of love and hatred the mere announcing of the name would attract. 50 and still kicking it. Happy birthday Cowboys.
It was also a birthday for Cowboy V.P. Greg McElroy as a bunch of his friends made it out to the River for a dinner get-together. The feature item was a raspberry-chocolate dessert that went untouched...until passed off to the staff at Cool River. I can tell you it was enjoyed by everyone! Mmmmmm.
Also in 1996 on this day the Cowboys exercised a demon as they finally defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XXX by a 27-17 count. 2 picks for Larry Brown and another title for the Silver and Blue. I remember it like yesterday.
Late night for the Mavericks as they travel to Phoenix and are utilizing Jason Terry as the #6 guy ahead of Roddy B and Josh Howard. I still do not anticipate Mark Cuban making any significant changes come trade deadline time. That's just my humble opinion.

Great win by the Stars last night at home. 10-2-2 in their last 14 games at home. 2 points behind the Red Wings for the #8 seed in the West.
They may not get there but it's always a fun time at home. Avalanche on Friday, albeit under icy conditions. Always great to run into friends and fans.
Make it a great day!
Over and out in Big D
