Plenty To Choose From!
Happy Saturday friends. There is going to be litany of stuff about to go down today at 3 pm CST. First and foremost, the NFL Draft will be foremost on the computers, tellys, and Twitters of fans. Then in no particular order you have a Penguins-Flyers hockey playoff, Game 4 of the Mavericks-Spurs, racing at Talladega, and let's not forget the greatest rivalry known to baseball-The Yankees at Red Sox. And we wonder why we are an A.D.D. society...
All doubts were erased late last night when Highland Park alum Matthew Stafford signed a 6 year deal with the Lions for upwards of 78 million dollars. 41 million of it is guaranteed. Put me on record as one who believes that Stafford will have a successful run in the NFL. I am more curious to see who or what the Cowboys do this day when number 51 rolls around. Local interest as to where Michael Crabtree winds up. The experts says Oakland, I am guessing elsewhere as I don't wish Al Davis on anyone these days.
A wild win in Beantown as Jason Bay forced extra innings on a homer off the arm of Mariano Riviera. Kevin Youklis would go deep in the extras for a dramatic Red Sox victory. Two things you can always expect when the Yanks and Bosox battle. High pitch counts and long games that border on four hours. Dont be surprised if Boston does their version of the 1978 massacre sweep. Mention Bobby Sprowl for brownie points...
Texas had a good road win in Baltimore after three days away in Canada. Vicente Padilla gave the bullpen a semblance of relief as he went over six innings in a 5-4 win. Scott Feldman will get a spot start this evening in place of Kris Benson, who is nursing some elbow problems. Feldman had moments of brilliance as a starter in 2008. A good outing tonight could help make a case for more spot starts.
On the subject of CJ Wilson, I want to make a suggestion to Ron Washington. When Ceej enters, do a double dip and bring in Omar Vizquel as short! It seems that Elvis Andrus makes his throwing errors when Wilson is on the mound. This has cost the Rangers three games that should have been wins! On a lighter note, I am wondering how much longer before David Murphy snaps out of his oh fer...

I anticipate San Antonio bouncing back with a game of smashmouth physicality. Tony Parker may be stuck doing all the work with little help. If Dallas is able to take Game 4, more power to them, and may they deal with the Rockets next round. That will mean only 830 prime times and not leaving Texas for the next two weeks. I also think Bruce Bowen will have to step things up this afternoon. To think that the Cowboys draft day may get outshined by the Mavericks...
Enjoy the Draft. Enjoy the sports. Enjoy the numerous choices on television.
Time for a walk, and dog sitting.
Over and out in Big D
