Winging It and Winning It!
Ah, the Saturday before Christmas and all through the town...Here in North Texas an inaugural event on the collegiate side, a matinee rivals matchup at the AAC, and a headliner of a football game that most fans will be unable to get (courtesy of the NFL Network). The Cowboys and Saints in what could be an interesting game. Oh, and did I forget to say 'Let the Bowl games begin!'
While North Texas deals with Gemini weather (hot and cold) I am dealing with a harsh touch of the crud. Having the strength of ten men, I vow to plow on and partake in a day of sports watching. Alot of interest as the Longhorns and Tar Heels play the first college game inside the Jones Mahal. The game is not a sellout yet I expect upwards of 60,000 people to watch the giant video screen indoors.

The Red Wings are a banged up bunch of vets coming to Dallas. This marks the 3rd meeting between the two teams. It always amazes me how many Wing Nuts make the trek to Big D. The Stars will try to erase the bad taste of an overtime loss and a shootout failure on their recent road trip. Keep an eye on Jamie Benn and James Neal as they are among the leaders in scoring in the NHL.
Tonights Cowboys game is their season in a nutshell. No one is giving Dallas a snowballs chance in hell. One of my regular patrons said, 'When it looks bleak, that's when you root for the underdog.' I'll be shocked if that happens. We saw the Colts barely get to 14-0. Will the 1972 Dolphins get to pop some champagne courtesy of the Cowboys? Stay tuned!
Now 13 days away from a new year. I hope the shopping remains fun!
Over and out in Big D
