Matt and Mark: 1 and 2?
Happy Hump Day!
After three weeks of waiting I received some good news. Over the holidays there was an issue with the camera. Sent to repair, where it was discovered that the part needed was now obsolete. By the grace of the good people at Best Buy, I was given an upgrade that more than takes the place of what I previously had. A ten migapixel monster with more bells and whistles than the Keystone Cops on a car chase (silent film reference). Will get a chance to put it to use tonight and tomorrow when the Mavs and Stars do their thing.
With the Hornets in Dallas tonight, this shall mark the first meeting since CP3 and company eliminated the Mavs last April in playoffs. Dwight Howard in person is amazing. LeBron James is a monster, Kobe takes control in a game late. Chris Paul I dare say may be one of the most complete players in the NBA. Aided by Tyson Chandler, this Hornet team appears set for years to come. The schedule does not get easier for Rick Carlisle and crew.
Mark Sanchez announces he will go pro. After only 16 games starting for the Trojans, Sanchez is going to take the leap come April. I find it funny how many rotisserie geeks will actually spend hours doing a mock draft of the first round. Rather than stay the full term, Mark Sanchez has chosen to strike while the iron is hot. I wish him well. My guess is that both Stafford and Sanchez will get drafted 1-2.
Nothing new to report in the land of the Rangers as the Michael Young saga continues to simmer. I am hopeful that the Rangers and the upper brass figure out how to mesh and make a great lemonade with the batch of lemons currently facing them. Attendance will probably remain low in 2009, but not for the reasons that you might assume.
Yes the Cowboys will start a new chapter across the street form me in Arlington September 2009. It was announced that the work being done on the nearby I-30 and Collins street will NOT be ready until 2010! This is to say that on a given Sunday in September, if the Rangers and Cowboys play concurrently, you will have the potential for 150,000 fans within a one mile radius. Leaving those stadiums will be an absolute mindfudge.
Add cost overruns to the cost of the new stadium for the Cowboys and a weakened economy, I will not be surprised to see the people of Congress relax their blackout rule of selling out a stadium 72 hours in advance before it is televised locally.
The current line on the Eagles Cardinals is Arizona plus 3.5. I expect the Eagles to win but I think Arizona will cover. The Steelers will cover and win. I believe the Ravens are a tired team. There is also speculation as to where Ray Ryan will wind up at season's end. My guess is St. Louis or New York.
Warmer weather to slowly reach North Texas. I am ready for it.
Time for a walk!
Over and out in Big D
